Modesto Roadsters Sweep Freebirds to Open the Second-Half of the Season

Thursday, July 16, 2026 : Freebirds 4 Roadsters 6 Final.

A pitching duel in the first-half and a home run derby in the second-half of the game, this game was exciting from start to finish. The Modesto Roadsters swept the Yuba-Sutter Freebirds with a 6-4 victory backed by a pair of home runs by Osiris Johnson. 

Anthony Diaz got the start and he pitched his best game of the season. He may have gotten a no-decision but had his longest outing of the season (5.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 7 K, 1 BB). He retired the first two batters of every inning from the first through fifth innings but did not allow a run to score until the sixth innning. 

Osiris Johnson hit two home runs (12,13) helping lead the Roadsters to a 6-4 victory. 

After the Roadsters took a 3-1 lead into the seventh, Jordan Donahue hit a go-ahead three run home run for the Freebirds off reliever Johan Castillo, giving the Freebirds a 4-3 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Jacob Lojewski answered back with his own go-ahead home run scoring Lucas Terilli and giving the Roadsters a 5-4 lead. 

After Johnson hit his second home run of the game in the 8th against former Roadster Rane Pfeifer, AJ Moreno locked the ninth inning down for the Roadsters with a five pitch ninth inning for his third save of the season. 

The Roadsters have started out the second-half on the right foot with a three-game win streak and will take that momentum to Oakland this weekend with three games before coming back home next Tuesday, July 21 against the Red Pocket Mobiles.
